GABRIELLA WHALEN
Likes: Long road trips, spending time with her family, playing basketball, her Church community, anything outdoors, national parks, books, a good coffee shop, deep conversations, day trips, her dog, and quality friendships
Dislikes: Olives, hurtful people, spiders, bullying, pessimists
Gabriella was born and raised here in the Pacific Northwest, she is the youngest of 3 and has a very close relationship with her family. It wasn’t until college that she moved all the way to Western Massachusetts, where she attends Smith College. There she studies economics and data sciences, while also playing basketball. In the Spring of 2020, when a pandemic pulled her home from her Junior year, she became an intern marketing intern at Seattle Angels. In the Fall of 2020, when Gabriella decided to take a year off before finishing her undergraduate, she jumped on staff at Seattle Angels as our Marketing and Communications Person.
Working with children is something that has always been important to Gabriella. She has been a young life leader in Washington and Massachusetts for the past 4 years and is very active in the youth ministry at her church. She has a heart for kids and the foster care system is something she is super passionate about. It started when she was in 1st grade and her parents became foster parents themselves. Gabriella had a foster brother herself and that’s when the passion to help change the foster system sparked in her, she got to see firsthand the trauma a child in care faces and what little support a fostering family can get. Gabriella believes that helping kids is the first step to a better future. There is so much trauma and hate in this world and every kid should have a consistent adult who loves them unconditionally and believes in them.
