EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
OVERVIEW
Seattle Angels exists for one reason - to radically improve the experience of foster care for children and families in the Seattle/Puget Sound area. We believe every child deserves to be loved and have deep, affirming, consistent relationships that allow them to lead a full life as they move through the foster care system. The direct involvement of community members in supporting families makes this possible.

This organization has grown out of an urgency to change the outcomes for foster families and the children they care for. We benefit from a national network of over 20 Angels chapters around the country who are all-in to share energy, ideas, resources, and momentum. Typically, chapters are led from the onset by an individual who steps into the executive role after a founding board raises start-up funding. In our case, we’ve been led by a group of citizens who formed a working board and raised funds for initial program staffing. After nearly two years of program success, we are ready to hire the right person to step into this bridging role that is essential to our leadership and continued growth.

This offering does not represent just a job - it represents the opportunity to join in a cause. The foster system is the last safety net for children who have experienced severe trauma or neglect, and too many are falling through. On average they will move seven times in two years of care; less than half will graduate high school; half will be homeless or incarcerated within a year of aging out. With these moves, they lose everything they know - friends, extended family, school, and other community supports. These outcomes are unjust, largely avoidable, and terrifically costly to society - morally, socially, and economically.

At the core, we believe the solution is engaging the whole community in care, weaving the threads, and tying the knots that can catch and hold all children. The model is simple - develop and empower teams of volunteers to provide holistic support to families and mentorship to teens. Our programs are ultimately driven by the healing power of consistent healthy relationships.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Seattle Angels is growing quickly, grounded in an entrepreneurial mentality. We are looking for a skilled leader who can help guide our team and take our organization’s operations, management, and growth to the next level, reviewing and restructuring processes to shift Seattle Angels from a start-up phase to one focused on growth.

The ideal candidate is strategic, innovative, and inspirational, with excellent organizational and relationship management capabilities, compelling communication skills, and, ideally, strong fundraising experience. They will be capable of coordinating people internally and externally, demonstrating values that drive an organizational culture of transparency, accountability, care, and results. They will provide strategic foresight and leadership in governance, programs, finance, and operations. The right person will be someone who can learn new things very quickly, enjoys solving problems, and is committed to growing the people around them.
As our national network has demonstrated, the right candidate can come from a variety of backgrounds - advocacy, sales, education, faith, small business, etc. Most important is their willingness to serve with excellence, ethics, and determination. We value collaboration and adaptability and will support them to be successful if they are driven to grow in this role.
