Meryl was born and raised in Seattle, and attended Washington State University where she studied psychology and human development. She went on to graduate school at Seattle Pacific University studying family counseling, and started her career as a counselor for foster youth and families. Meryl credits this experience with the foster care system as the time she developed a passion for serving foster families. She also worked for Olive Crest – a private foster care placement agency - as a clinician and home study writer for 7 years.
Along with her work with foster families, Meryl now owns a counseling practice called Eastside Girl Talk where she provides therapy services to teenage girls. She lives in Kirkland with her husband of 4 years, and they are expecting their first baby. In her free time, she enjoys taking walks, exploring new towns and neighborhoods, wine tasting, and making healthy food taste good.
