CASE MANAGER
OVERVIEW 
We are looking for a dependable, compassionate, justice seeker to join our team as a Case Manager, and help support children and families experiencing foster care. Sound like you? Perfect. Keep reading....

Seattle Angels is an innovative nonprofit that seeks to change the way children, youth and families experience the foster care system. We believe that if we can get every child, youth, and family in the foster care system in our programs, we have a great chance of changing the world we live in.

Our fast-growing organization has a start-up mentality, but also a level of professionalism and drive that is not found in most nonprofits. There is a LOT of opportunity with our company and we are looking for a creative, innovative self-starter who exudes these four core competencies: Professionalism, Passion, Initiative, Adaptability.

Our programs are created to help empower children and build sustainable foster homes. Our solution to the foster care crisis are the Love Box family support program and Dare to Dream youth mentor programs. Our programs utilize a trauma-informed, wrap-around service model that strengthens relationships between foster families, youth in foster care, and bio families. GENERAL OVERVIEW
The main role of a case manager involves the matching of volunteers/mentors with foster families/youth in foster care, the facilitation of a strengths assessment/initial meetup to establish baseline needs, conducting the training of all volunteers, and monitoring the ongoing success and challenges with matched cases by engaging volunteers in monthly reports and engaging families in regular dialogue about progress and impact of the Seattle Angels program. This also involves creating case profiles, gathering stories to be used in impact reports and marketing and tracking data on the success of each Seattle Angels match.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Work as directed to support the mission and values of Seattle Angels.
  • Engage in discussions around sensitive topics related to child welfare. Utilize these discussions to advocate and make decisions for the best interest of the client.
  • Assist with recruiting new volunteer/volunteer groups. Ability to speak about programs during networking and/or presentations for volunteer recruitment. Facilitate strengths assessment/initial meetup between foster family/youth and volunteer/mentor and conduct training for volunteer groups/mentors. These can be held in the evenings or on weekends due to the volunteer/foster family availability.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local CPAs (child placement agencies) and other child welfare organizations.
  • Interview volunteers to find the best match within the Seattle Angels organization.
  • Gather foster family referrals and/or foster youth information including their background information, needs, and child information to determine the best volunteer match to meet their needs.
  • Ensure volunteers complete all on-board requirements. Serve as liaison between volunteer, foster family and placement agency.
  • Maintain excellent case history records and prepare impact reports from testimonies of foster families, youth, and children served through programs.
  • Conduct ongoing monitoring of volunteer contact and tracking of relational outcomes for children/youth in the Seattle Angels program.
  • Resolve program complaints and requests to change volunteer matching arrangements.
  • Identify and collaborate with other local partners to provide resources to families and youth referred to Seattle Angels.
  • Attend and serve at events including fundraising, community awareness initiatives, events for families, youth, and children which often occur over weekends or evenings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 
A qualified candidate will:
  • be a highly skilled communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • have abilities to quickly curate trust based connections including
    • foster families,
    • youth in care,
    • volunteers,
    • mentors,
    • corporate partners,
    • and Seattle Angels staff and board.
  • possess knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and psychological needs.
  • demonstrate a spirit of inclusivity and acceptance of people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
  • be a self-starter who can work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • have the ability to be teachable in the different skills the job requires.

WORK CONTEXT
This position is hybrid and will require a mixture of working at home and the office and traveling to agency locations, strengths assessments, training, and/or outreach events. New hires will complete a training and on-boarding process with the National Angels Program Trainer. Case managers will be required to attend certain events including fundraising, community awareness initiatives, events for families, youth, and children, training and strengths assessments over weekends or evenings periodically.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s Degree and 2+ years of related experience, or
  • Bachelor's Degree and 1 + year of related experience, or
  • Master’s Degree and 6+ months of related experience.
A background in social services or related fields is preferred but not required.
